PALU, Central Sulawesi, 27-29 March, 2019: Around 35 members of Youth Forums at provincial and district level: Palu, Sigi and Donggala and youth activists from the 8 PKBI, UNFPA-supported Youth Friendly Spaces joined a workshop to strengthen their skills to identify youth vulnerabilities, build networks, mobilize wider youth engagement and develop youth recommendations and action plan to be used in youth advocacy.

The youth who joined the training used the opportunity to share ideas and initiatives to design youth programme and activities until end of 2019 and to foster wider youth involvement in their respective communities.

UNFPA Youth in Emergencies Officer Nur Arifina Vivinia said that this youth training and empowerment allow youth to directly engage and design programmes and activities to address issues in their own communities. “They have been previously trained to identify issues in their IDPs camps and communities. We also involved some of them in post disaster youth assessment. The findings, all new initiatives and opportunities are to be consolidated for concrete activities this year,” she said.
