UNFPA is the leading UN agency ensuring the prevention of gender-based violence (GBV) and the provision of related services in humanitarian preparedness and response. Under the leadership of the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection, UNFPA supports and strengthens the Sub-Cluster for GBV Prevention, Response, and Women’s Empowerment in Indonesia.

The video, "Five Years of Journey: Sub-Cluster for GBV Prevention, Response, and Women’s Empowerment (Sub Klaster PPKBGPP) in Disaster Situations 2018-2023," documents lessons learned, efforts made, and challenges faced by various stakeholders in addressing gender-based violence during disaster situations in Indonesia. Over the past five years, natural disasters have heightened vulnerabilities, particularly among women and children, often leading to an increase in GBV incidents.

The Sub-Cluster of PPKBGPP was established to coordinate and strengthen GBV prevention and responses in emergency situations, fostering collaboration among government agencies, women-led NGOs, civil society organizations, and local communities. This video highlights experiences, lessons, and success stories from these efforts, aiming to guide humanitarian actors, policymakers, and advocates in strengthening the core coordination functions of the PPKBGPP Sub-Cluster, and to reducing GBV risks in disaster situations and ensuring the provision of GBV prevention and services in any emergency settings.
