The position:

The Youth Engagement Focal Point for Gender Programme will support UNFPA CO for effective planning, development and implementation of youth leadership and engagement on UNFPA Gender   Programme (GBV and Harmful Practices) intervention within the 10th Country Programmes.

Job Purpose:
The Youth Engagement Focal Point for Gender Programme is responsible to support Gender Team for effective planning, development and implementation of youth leadership and engagement on Gender, in particular GBV and Harmful Practices programme within the 10th Country Programmes. Under overall guidance of the Representative, The Focal Point of Youth Engagement for Gender Programme will report and be supervised directly by the Gender Programme Specialist.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

Summary of Key Functions:

  • Support gender team in ensuring youth engagement in the gender (GBV and Harmful Practices programme) implementation with Government and non-government partners (the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection/MOWECP, Ministry of Health/MOH and the National Commission on Violence against Women/NCVAW/Komnas Perempuan),
  • Support gender team as a focal point in ensuring youth networks participation in the gender programme specifically targeting youth (FGM/C and Child Marriage)
  • Provide assistance in development of knowledge products related with youth engagement and participation in gender issue (particularly GBV and Harmful Practices)
  • Support the gender team   in ensuring the MOWECP’s follow ups programme which in line with the recommendations of the youth development index., i.e: addressing child marriage
  • Support the gender team in collaboration with youth team in ensuring GBV and harmful practices are integrated in youth development programme
  • Support the gender team in collaboration with youth networks under MOWECP (Child Forum) and NCVAW in strengthening advocacy networks in promoting youth leadership and ensuring youth perspectives on gender advocacy activities i,e: RUU PKS, RKUHP, CEDAW Report
  • Support gender team in collaboration with Communication team in the development of youth perspective on gender issues for the development of social media messages and articles
  • Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor. 

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields: social sciences, public administration, law, public health, international relations or related subjects.  

 

Knowledge and Experience:

  • A minimum of 4 (four) years of relevant experience in the area of youth development, youth engagement and meaningful participation and/or youth leadership.
  • Sound knowledge of the broader issues related to UNFPA’s mandate on human rights, gender, GBV and harmful practices, sexual and reproductive health, youth leadership and participation in Indonesia.
  • Ability to liaise and affiliate with Government, Donors, NGOs working and youth networks in the area of youth programme.
  • Familiarity on youth led research, issues related to youth engagement and working with youth networks is an advantage
  • Proven experiences in advocating youth or gender issues in media platforms targeted youth audiences including social media such as podcasts, IG lives, FB live is preferable
  • Excellent presentation, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills experience in working with young people
  • Skill in facilitating group discussion/ training/ workshop/ meetings

 

Languages:

Fluency in oral and written English and Bahasa Indonesia.

 

Computer skills:

  • Experience using office software packages and web-based management systems
