The position:
The Media Assistant will support United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Indonesia Country Office (CO) for multi-media design and development, media monitoring, and social media management, including maintenance, content development, and posting on UNFPA Indonesia’s social media accounts. Additionally, the Media Assistant helps to manage, maintain, and update UNFPA Indonesia website. Under overall guidance of the Representative, the Media Assistant will report and be supervised directly by the Communication Analyst.

Job Purpose:

The Media Assistant supports the Communication Analyst in creating effective communications materials and dissemination of information on UNFPA as an agency responsible for sexual and reproductive health and rights. In particular, the key results have an impact on the implementation of UNFPA communications and publication strategies, as well as reaching resource mobilization targets.

The Media Assistant works in close collaboration with the Communication Analyst, the Programme and Operations teams, staff of other UN Agencies, and government officials, to ensure high quality and attractive multi-media and online media products that aiming for successful UNFPA communication strategy implementation. 

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. Designing multi-media materials such as brochures, leaflets, books, infographics, videos, and audio products.         
  2. Conducting daily media monitoring on issues related to UNFPA mandate and thematic areas: sexual and reproductive health (SRH), including maternal health, family planning, and HIV; youth and adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH); gender equality, including prevention of gender-based violence and harmful practices; and population dynamics and data.
  3. Developing compelling content on UNFPA mandate and thematic areas for relevant social media accounts, and posting it in relevant applications;
  4. Monitoring of comments: thanking respondents/followers, acknowledging, and answering questions, and referring more difficult questions to relevant officers/colleagues;
  5. Monitoring of relevant tags/hashtags, and develop monthly social media reports:
  6. Assisting, including provision of administrative and logistical support to the communication team in the media workshops media briefings, report launches, development of UNFPA newsletters, and situation reports;
  7. Assisting in the development, updating, and maintaining, including collection of information, preparation of content for UNFPA Indonesia website;
  8. Dissemination of information and publications; assistance at public events such as roundtable discussions, press conferences, briefing sessions, interviews;
  9. Maintenance of information database and photo library;
  10. Research and retrieval of statistical data, including extraction of data from internal and external sources for communication interventions;
  11. Arrangement of briefings and regular meetings with other UN agencies in the CO and with national and international media;
  12. Logistical support to UN information campaigns (through commemoration of WPD, International Youth Day, World AIDS Day, etc.)
  13. Review of translations, contacts with printers and other suppliers to ensure production of communication materials.

 

Qualifications and Experience

Education:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, multi-media design and/or other related fields;

Knowledge and Experience: 

  • At least 3 (three) years of previous experience in management of corporate social media, and/or successful personal social media accounts;
  • Good graphic design skills;
  • Previous experience working with multilateral or international organizations is an advantage.

Languages:

  • Fluency in oral and written English and Bahasa Indonesia. 

Computer skills:

  • High level of proficiency in standard computer and multi-media design software.
  • Proficiency in social media content and management.
