The position:

The Digital Health and Innovation Focal Point will support UNFPA CO for effective planning, development, and implementation of digital solutions with and for young people to address the many health challenges they may face as they grow into adulthood. Under the overall guidance of the Representative, the Digital Health and Innovation Focal Point will report and be supervised directly by the Youth and ASRH Programme Analyst.

Job Purpose:

UNFPA has supported the Government of Indonesia in fulfilling the rights and needs of youth and adolescents by providing evidence-based advocacy and supporting the Government to inform youth policy through knowledge sharing. In collaboration with youth networks, UNFPA continues to maintain and scale up a platform for youth participation in the issues affecting youth, particularly adolescent reproductive health. The platform is the Community of Practice (CoP) of digital youth-led reproductive health content creators which aims to increase participation, collaboration, and peer learning among young content creators in issues surrounding ICPD. UNFPA will build the capacities of CoP to create policy recommendations and dialogues with the government. UNFPA will also document the various best practices of youth-led initiatives. The platform will ensure that young people can meaningfully participate, particularly in the area of reproductive health education.

The Digital Health and Innovation Focal Point is responsible for providing technical assistance to foster innovation within UNFPA country programmes, particularly digital sexuality education.

 

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide technical inputs for research, monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge management support regarding existing ASRH innovative initiatives to promote learning and continuous improvement.
  2. Lead outreach to and engagement with potential digital youth reproductive health content creators and youth networks and develop partnerships with the organizations that can support the CoP, including virtual and in-person events and opportunities for members to network and to collaborate.
  3. In coordination with the UNFPA Asia Pacific Region Office (APRO), lead the implementation of Digital Sexuality Education (DSE) in the Asia Pacific Region and set up the CoP as the Hub for DSE in the Asia Pacific Region.
  4. Support UNFPA’s Implementing Partners in designing and delivering capacity building for CoP members and other related organizations.
  5. Provide technical assistance for UNFPA to develop knowledge products, including skills mapping and advocacy key messages to support the capacity development and digital advocacy of the CoP.
  6. Provide technical assistance for the creation of a web-based platform to support the CoP.
  7. Provide technical assistance for the development of ASRH education in schools and out of schools and the national strategy on adolescent health and wellbeing.
  8. Provide technical assistance to develop social media content and promote engagement of youth networks and organizations in the CoP and other programmes and activities supported by UNFPA
  9. In coordination with the PSEA focal point, provide technical assistance for the PSEA implementation within the CO.
  10. Any other related tasks may be required or assigned by the supervisor.

 

Qualifications and Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in public health, medicine, education, psychology, or related social science.  

 

Knowledge and Experience:

A minimum of four years of relevant experience in the area of adolescent health, including ASRH information and services, gender equality, and SDGs

Sound experience in developing and managing digital health and/or innovations related to ASRH

Ability to liaise and affiliate with Government, Donors, NGOs working, and youth networks in the area of youth programme.

  • Familiarity with youth-led research, issues related to youth engagement, and working with youth networks is preferable.

 

Languages:

A strong capability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written English and Bahasa Indonesia.

 

Computer skills:

  • Up-to-date computer skills required (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, social media, and others).
