UNFPA assists East Nusa Tenggara landslide-affected communities


  JAKARTA, Indonesia: The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is to send 1700 various individual kits and 100   midwifery kits as part of its US$ 50,000-worth humanitarian assistance to survivors of the Saturday flash flood and   landslide in Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara province.
 
  A part from kits distribution, the Fund is currently working with local District Health Office and community health center to   provide mobile reproductive health services to the affected communities and to establish a referral health system.  

  According to Bakornas, the disaster killed 36 people, injured 26 and rendered at least 1,839 people displaced. To date,   38  people have been declared missing.
 
  Head of Kupang office of the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency Albert Kusbagio warned that people in the region   should remain alert as heavy rains are still expected in the next few days.
