Under the  shared supervision of the Representative and the Assistant Representative the Field Coordination  Officer (FCO) will have substantial and proven skills in programme coordination and management and technical backstopping, particularly in the context of Papua and West Papua, in support of UNFPA’s 8th Country Programme  implementation. S/he will deliver day to day coordination and programme management including planning and monitoring and the provision of technical assistance to partners in delivering the programme components which are particularly related to  the Reproductive Health  outputs, i.e., birth spacing for the health of mothers and children as a means to reduce maternal mortality; dual contraceptive protection as a means of birth spacing and prevention of transmission of HIV/AIDS; adolescent sexual and reproductive health information and services; as well as support to  the Outputs related to Gender Equality and Prevention of Gender-Based Violence and on Population Dynamics and Data, as they may apply in the context of the region. S/he is also expected to take active participation roles in UN coordination and other meetings of the donor community/ development partners in Papua and West Papua. S/he will also be expected to undertake continuous advocacy to strengthen commitment and political support as well as to build and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders working in key areas of UNFPA’s mandate.
